Terms of Travel, Tourism, Tourism Issue and Tourism Industry




Still confused for the term of travel, tourism, tourism issue and the tourism industry? Consider the following description to help us in understanding each of that term. It is important for you who works in the tourism industry.

According to Law no. 10 in 2009;
Travel is an activity of a journey carried out by a person or group of people by visiting a specific place for the purposes of recreation, personal development, or to study the uniqueness of the tourism object or tourist attractions in a certain period;

Tourism is a wide range of tourist activities and supported by many facilities and services provided by community, business owner, Government, and the Local Government;

Tourism issue is the overall activities related to tourism and it is multidimensional and multidisciplinary that appears as a manifestation of the needs of every people and nation as well as the interaction between tourists and local communities, fellow tourists, Government, Local Government and employers.


Meanwhile, the tourism industry is a collection or series of companies that produce products either in the form of services or goods required for the tourists to travel to a place or region. The collection or series of the company as mentioned above are hotels, guesthouses, travel agencies, restaurants, entertainment venues, etc.
